There are hikers who have devoted entire blog posts to mosquitoes, sometimes with a higher than normal frequency of expletives. They certainly can drive you crazy! On previous hikes during mosquitoes season I can remember running down the trail, waiving my hat in front of my face so I didn't inhale them and screaming at the top of my lungs. I've even tried speaking in tongues militantly as I hike, but to no avail. So...this year I bought a head net to put over my hat and will wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants when they get thick. I also have DEET for any exposed skin. Hopefully this will keep me sane and happy in mosquito country!
