After getting rained on all night, I did my best to get up and get moving by 6am. My tent was drying out in the first rays of the morning sun and then another cloud blew over and soaked everything again. Bummer...
I arrived at the restaurant an hour before they opened so I made good use of my time and wrote this blog post, charged my phone, used the restroom, and emptied the trash from my pack. There is no cell service here and no wifi. :(
I've noticed that I had far better phone reception and access to wifi in Southern California especially in the desert section. It seems the further north I go, the harder it is to communicate. In the last town, Verizon worked but not AT&T. The store had wifi for hikers but it was painfully slow. I was able to text Eva and get one blog post to Eva for proofing.
I'm having a burger, onion rings, and then will visit the store for soda and ice cream! Then I'll hike another 12-15 miles so I can arrive in Belden Saturday morning. I'll be back on the trail Sunday morning heading for Burney Falls State Park, where I'll meet Eva for the first time in a few weeks! She has my new shoes!!!
